This vintage hand punch was used in the newspaper business to punch customer's cards when they paid for their papers. It is from the 1930s and was made by the Meyer & Wenthe Company of Chicago.

Punches similar to this were used by railway conductors to punch travel tickets.

As you can see from the photo, this makes an interesting punch hole. The hole measures about 3/16 inch long by a about 1/8 inch wide.

This punch was used a lot in its day and shows some wear on the metal, but it works perfectly and doesn't stick. In fact, we were surprised how easy it is to use. The punch itself is quite heavy so it will take a lot of wear. It measures 4-1/2 inches long by 3-3/4 inches at the widest (the handles).

We've seen a lot of punches similar to this, but there is usually something wrong with the punch. It might stick or is rusty or might need oiled. This one needs nothing. We're also delighted that it punches such a unique shape.
