We can't repeat enough just how much fun we have with tiny little vintage boxes like these. They are fun to collect and to give away. We especially enjoy boxes like this to use for collage or assemblage. But, more than anything, we like to package tiny unexpected gifts in these. Our friends have come to expect fun gifts in vintage boxes.
This little yellow and read cardboard box may arrive flat or already formed. It measures 1-15/16 inch long by 1-1/16 inch wide by 1/2 inch deep.
Although it might seem funny to offer a gift to someone in such a box meant to hold laxatives, most of the graphics are really cool and don't allude to the use.
This empty box appears was created in the 1930s when Brownfields Pills were readily available.
The top of the empty box features the company's trademark leaf and name, 'Little Pills'. It reads:
BROWNFIELDS Little Pills SOLD SINCE 1875
Each of the long sides of the box read:
SAMPLE
Each of the short sides of the box read:
SOLD SINCE 1875
The bottom of the box reads:
BROWNFIELD'S LITTLE PILLS Sold Since 1875 Dose: Laxative 1 to 2 Cathartic 3 to 4 Chandler Medicine Co. St. Louis, Mo.
Each of these boxes is in great condition for their age.
