Back in the 1950s and 1960s, all gentlewomen carried handkerchiefs in their purses. Many were fancy - crocheted edgings or printed flowers, but there were the utilitarian ones as well. This lovely all cotton hanky was one of those.
We're not quite sure of the absolute size because we did not want to open the package, but folded, it measures 4 inches by 4-1/4 inches. So, we're guessing it to measure about 16 inches square. There is a crossed open weave pattern and there appears to be a rolled hem.
