Saint Agatha Laminated Holy Card

Saint Agatha was a young, beautiful and rich woman who devoted her life to God. Before she was martyred around 250 AD, she was sent by the cruel rulers to work in a brothel where she refused to accept customers.

She was punished severely and her torturers were so evil that they focused their torture on her breasts and made her roll on hot coals. Because of her terrifying sacrifice, she has become the Patron of those who suffer breast cancer; as well as to be considered a powerful intercessor when people suffer from fires.

Saint Agatha has also come to be known as the Patron Saint of rape victims, wet nurses, bellfounders (due to the shape of her severed breasts), infertility, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

Her feast day is February 5.
