DESCRIPTION

A sachet, or envelope, such as this fine antique one, was the way cigarettes were sold so long ago. Our research takes us back to the early 1900s, but we are not quite sure of the actual date - most likely 1900-1915.

It appears that the actual tobacco was from Richmond in the USA. The envelope itself suggests that the cigarettes were packaged for sale in France. The J. Loriaux-Pianetti company was located in Paris.

The envelope opens at the top. The paper is a fine rich & smooth dark kraft yellow paper - sturdy enough to hold the tobacco. It is printed with black ink and features a gentleman wit a long pipe in the center of the label.

These are in fine condition - barely showing their age. There is some foxing on some of the envelopes.
