The Hamsa Hand, Hamish Hand or Hand of Fatima is a popular amulet in the Middle East and in Africa. It has become quite popular, too, in the Western World. Sometimes it appears as a normal hand, but more commonly, it resembles our antiqued silver charm or medal - with two opposing thumbs. This image is historically associated with cultures as far back as the Phoenicians. It is known to cross cultures and religions.
Although many Hamsa Hands feature an evil eye center, ours features a 5-pointed star and a moon. It measures 1-1/16 inch high by 3/4 inch wide (at the thumbs).
