Wow! Here's an antique February 1924 Dennison Passe Partout Booklet - ORIGINAL (not a copy). Picture Framing with Dennison's Passe Partout Picture Binding. An old-time craft - great to take up again.

Dennison booklets and instructions are very collectible. This one is in great condition and is an original. So many offered online are copies. They were originally as cross-promotional booklets - to sell the products used in the instructions!

The booklet provides step-by-step instructions on how to use gummed paper binding, cardboard strips, and glass to create custom "raised" picture frames at home—a highly popular Flapper-era handicraft.

What a great glimpse into 1920s material costs and design trends:
  • The Finishes: It lists an incredible variety of gummed picture bindings, including Pebbled Finish (in colors like Sage Green and Crimson), Crocodile Finish, Wood Finish (Mahogany, Walnut, Ebony), and even Dull Gold.
  • The Prices: A 12-yard roll of pebbled binding would set you back a whopping $0.12, while the premium Dull Gold was $0.25!
  • Styling Tips: The booklet gives specific framing advice, such as pairing sporting and hunting scenes with No. 11 Red binding, or combining a sepia print with No. 25 Walnut binding and a narrow edge of gold.
The booklet is in in excellent vintage condition. The cover art features a wonderful illustration of two women working on their framing crafts at a library table. The staples look clean, the paper bright, and the typography remains incredibly sharp for being over a century old.
