St Genevieve was a French peasant woman who moved to Paris to dedicate her life to Christianity.

She is credited with saving Paris (then known as Lutetia) by engaging in a prayer marathon that is believed to have diverted Atilla's Huns away from the city. Later, during the siege of the city by the Germanic king Childeric I, she acted as a intermediary helping to lead to the release of prisoners.

A lovely image of St Genevieve is on the front of the medal.
