Gertrude Stein was born in Allegheny, Pennsylvania (now part of Pittsburgh) on February 3, 1874. She spent most of her life and career in France, mostly in Paris. Her salon (27 re de Fleurus, Paris) was shared, first with her brother Leo, and later with Alice B Toklas, until she died in 1946. Well-known for travelling in avant-garde literary and art circles, she was a key figure in modern art and controversy alike.
Our flexible greeting card offers self-stick greetings in the traditional manner (Happy Mothers Day, Congratulations and the like), as well as quotes from Ms Stein, such as:
One does not get better but different and older and that is always a pleasure.
Romance is everything.
It is always a mistake to be plain-spoken.
...and more...
There are also pictures of a hand writing, books and a French poodle. Some of the quotes are illustrated, too!
