The original Blue Nude is an oil painting by Henri Matisse made in 1907. The full title is Nu Bleu: Souvenir de Biskra. He painted it when a sculpture he was making shattered. He later re-executed the sculpture, which is entitled Reclining Nude I (Aurore). Those original artworks may or may not be the inspiration for his much later gouache series in 1952 of several Nus Bleus (Blue Nudes) that make up this set of artistamps.

This particular Blue Nude is numbered 4 and is held today as a treasure at the Musée Henri Matisse in Nice au Côte d'Azur (Rivera), France. The sheet of six (6) stamps are all the same image - Nu Bleu IV.

These faux postage stamps are beyond compare. Presented in a 5 inch by 6 inch sheet of 6 of the same stamps, with water-activated adhesive in the fashion of traditional postage, these will be so much fun to use. Each artistamp is approximately 1-9/16 by 2 inches.

Please remember that these are gummed (not self-stick!) faux postes and not to be used to replace the true postage necessary for mailing!
