A rare, untouched treasure! We discovered a limited cache of these original, unopened packages, completely intact and exactly as they arrived decades ago—complete with their original paper "Made in Western Germany" labels and old-fashioned, patterned metal fold-over closures.

What wonderful memories these wee little mushrooms conjure—magical Christmases, good luck wishes, and, let us not forget the gnomes who must use them for tables and umbrellas!

Handmade from a hard composition material in the mid-20th century, these New Old Stock "pixie" beauties are incredibly detailed, from the hand-dotted white tops to the tiny, textured speckled spores molded right underneath the caps.

In many cultures—especially in Germany—the Amanita muscaria mushroom is a traditional symbol of good luck and good fortune (Glückspilz). You'll often see them paired with gnomes, elves, and fairies in classic children's literature. It is even rumored that Santa's reindeer pranced around in a flying frenzy after nibbling these little beauties, helping them fly around the world to deliver presents!

Packaging & Crafting Tips
  • Double-Headed Stems: These arrive much like flower stamens—there are 2 mushrooms per stem (one on each end of a paper-wrapped green wire).

  • Package Quantity: Each original package contains 18 stems, for a total of 36 wee little mushrooms, secured by a vintage metal band closure. We have located two slightly different sizes of original vintage packaging, so you may choose the specific pack style you prefer.

  • Versatile Use: Use them as double-headed stems, or easily snip the wire in half with wire cutters for individual miniatures. (We highly recommend using jewelry cutters rather than your good sewing scissors to keep your craft blades sharp!)
Maker's Note: Because these are authentic vintage composition pieces, if a cap is ever broken, it will cleanly turn to a bit of powder, revealing the center slot where the wire was pushed into the mold.

  • Cap Diameter: Approximately 7mm "pixie" size (see photos next to a standard dime for scale)
  • Mushroom Height: Approximately 1/2 inch (from the top of the red cap to where it meets the wire stem)
  • Total Length: Full double-headed stems measure roughly 2-1/2 to 3 inches
  • Origin: Handmade in Western Germany (Mid-20th Century New Old Stock)

Please Note: These are delicate composition miniatures intended for display, holiday crafting, and collecting. Unlike the wild folklore, our vintage version is absolutely not edible! Because these are entirely handmade and hand-painted, charming little variations in shape and dot placement will naturally occur.
