Plastic and composition pieces were major components in jewelry in the mid-20th century. Probably beginning around the 1930s and 1940s. They were popularized by Hollywood heroines and continue to be popular for their stylized design and kitschy colors.

This heart is probably from the late 1950s or early 1960s. There is a top hole if you care to attach a jump ring for hanging, or just use the opening in the heart itself.

This sweet plastic (or cellulose/celluloid) lacy heart pendant is exceptionally beautiful in its ivory color. Across the middle, in script, is written,

Sweetheart

The front of the cabochon is loaded with detail - it almost looks like real lace! It is flat-backed so that it will hang nicely or will be perfect for gluing.
